We had a day in Bolton today to visit the home and grave of our hero Fred Dibnah. I have been a fan of Freds for many years and although never met him, I felt that I knew him. It was brilliant to see his house and yard (although no steam engines). We then visited Freds grave in the cemetery at the back of his house, and finally into town to see the brass statue.

Back yard
This is Fred's yard. I was surprised how much smaller it was then it looked on television

Fred's statue
I have to say that I was a little disappointed with Fred's statue. I don't think it really looked like him at all.

Fred's grave.
Fred's grave is probably only 500yds from his house.
